Here's is some character backstory taken from the Anno Domini 1666 facebook page:

Doctor Faust

Born around the year 1604 in the city of Roda to a peasant family. Thanks to his intelligence and ambition he graduated from the Wittenberg University. He was awarded Ph.D. titles in theology, astrology and medicine. This was not enough for him, however. Hurried by his thirst for knowledge and the short human lifespan he started studying magical arts. At the age of 38 he signed a pact with Mephistopheles. After serving Faust for 24 years, the demon will collect his soul. Even though apparently Faust hasn't aged a day since signing the pact, he is aware the debt needs to be paid very soon.
